Good lighting is the difference between a display that gets glanced at and one that stops people in their tracks. Here's how to light a minifigure display or diorama for maximum impact.

Choose Your Light Source

LED strips and puck lights are the go-to for cases — they run cool, last for years, and come in warm or cool tones. Battery or USB-powered options keep wiring simple.

Position for Drama

Light from above and slightly to the side to create shadows and depth; flat front lighting kills detail. For dioramas, add a colored accent light — warm for fire, cool for night — to set the mood.

Avoid Heat and Fading

Stick to LEDs (not hot bulbs) and keep displays out of direct sunlight to prevent fading. A UV-protected case plus controlled lighting preserves figures long-term.
