The Story
The engines roar and the jump light glows red. He checks his chin strap one last time, pats the ammo pouches on his chest and grips the MP40 close. When the light turns green he is out into the wind, canopy snapping open over the olive groves. By dawn the bridge is held. Only when the relief column rolls in does he trade helmet for cap and finally sit down.
