The Gun That Holds the Line
A WWII German paratrooper in a splinter pattern camo smock and rimless helmet, carrying an MG42 machine gun and a spare side cap.
The Story
Every section needs one man who can hold a hilltop alone, and on this drop it is him. His camo smock blends into the scrub while he sets the MG42 behind a broken wall and watches the road. Helmet low, holster ready on his belt, he waits. When the enemy half tracks finally round the bend, the whole squad knows where the heavy gun is, because it does not stop until the road is clear.
