The Story
The chapter house bell rings once and the brothers of the white cross gather in the yard. Their commander wears a crowned helm. The knights wear plumed great helms and kettle hats, and a few ride bareheaded, eager to be seen. One white horse waits at the gate, saddled for the leader. Capes go on, bows are strung, and blades come off the rack. By sunrise the whole order is on the road north.
