The Story
The road is long and the legion is marching it in step. Twelve soldiers in banded armor and red tunics keep their shields tight, round and rectangular, each one painted with the golden wings of the legion. Two officers ride at the front in red capes. At dusk they make camp, light the fire, plant the white standards, and sharpen their spears. Tomorrow the frontier fort needs defenders, and the legion never arrives late.
