The Story
Rain drums on iron helmets as the cohort forms up on the hillside. Twelve legionaries lock their red shields into a wall, gold wings glinting in the gray light. Nobody talks. They have marched for nine days, and the chieftain below thinks they are too tired to hold. The centurion raises his hand. The first rank kneels, the second lifts its spears, and the Iron Legion waits for the charge.
